Why am I still having shoulder trouble after surgery one year ago?
ByI had surgery one year ago on my shoulder for impingement syndrome. Part of my collar bone was removed. Initially got better but over the last four months the same pain as before the surgery has returned. The surgeon told me that my shoulder is “failing”. Is anyone aware of why I would have the same pain as before the surgery? Could it be the result of a bad bicep tendon? The injury that initially caused the pain occurred at work and the insurance company is pressuring me to settle for a one time payout instead of keeping my lifetime medical. Does anyone know the cost associated with shoulder surgery in the event I would need another one? And finally, is this just something I will have to live with the rest of my life since my surgeon told me that my shoulder was “failing”?

Do NOT settle for a one-time payout. That means they know something more is wrong, and that you’ll cost them more money in the long-run if you stay with lifetime. Go get a second opinion if you can, and make sure you do all your physical therapy as ordered.
I’m sorry you are hurting. Are you eligible for a shoulder joint replacement? (These are not too common, but if we can replace a hip, we can replace shoulders too. Same joint concept). If your shoulder is “failing,” then that might be a better option for you. Therapy would be really rough to get through, but your quality of life would improve once you got through it.
Good luck and blessings.

SORRY TO HEAR THAT…. You never want to hear that one of your priceless limbs are failing. I wouldn’t settle unless its a very large sum. Maybe you didn’t let it heal right, or maybe it was done wrong. You never really know what happened and i am sure the suregon wouldn’t come right out and say i messed your arm up sorry but i didn’t do this, or that….. get a second opion, third, fourth………. GOOD LUCK

I have heard of a similiar situation involvings ones knee,do not accept any amount of settlement until you find out how your pain can be relieved to a liveable life without the hardships.I’m really thinking towards asking the doc/surgeon to take a thourough x-ray to make damn sure you don’t have scar tissue or bone fragments pressuring on your nerves.Good luck, hope you get everything squared away soon.
