Hemorrhoids during pregnancy…freaked out about the birth! Anyone had this? What happened?

I had them for a few months and they just can’t seem to go away no matter what I do. What is going to happen at the birth??? I know pushing supposedly makes them worse, so will I need corrective surgery or something afterwords? Has anyone had hemorrhoids before the birth? What happened after?

I had them before, during and after the birth with all 3 of my kids. They were never an issue during the labour or afterward, they went away afte a while once that pressure of the baby was gone. I applied Prep-H of course and also internally as I had internal ones occasionally and with my first when I got constipated I took a natural laxative as per my doctors orders.

Occasionally I get them from time to time and a with a change of diet and drinking loads of water they go away. No need for corrective surgery unless they are really really really bad

hang in there, you’ll be fine.

Yes!! They are so horrible. I had them my entire pregnancy and they were bad, but I didnt need surgery. The only way you would need surgery is if it is causing you too lose alot of blood. The aftermath of birth is hard to deal with at first. Pretty much every part of you down there is swollen including the hemorrhoids. You’ll get through it just fine. If they are bothering you that bad talk to your doctor, he will be able to answer all your questions. Good luck!

Are you religiously putting hemorrhoids ointment and suppository’s?

Most people have no idea how painful hemorrhoids are. I did not have them prior to birth but I had them for 8 months after. My mom and grandma are hemorrhoids prone. The best advice that they gave me is 4 or 5 times a day, you need to be putting the ointment and suppository’s in. And once they feel better keep doing it. Do not use the cream or cooling gel, just gives temp. relief. It does not help. I just bought the equate brand and used it everyday for about 3 weeks, 4 or 5 times a day and they finally went away. Unfortunately now that you have had them, you will get them the rest of your life. Just keep ointment and suppository’s on hand at home. You could also ask your doctor to prescribe you something. I think my doctor prescribe rectagel for me (great name I know) It worked, but I did not continuously put the ointment on, so they quickly came back. They do not really do corrective surgery anymore, unless they burst. But you would have to let them go untreated for months.
